The Sports Consiglieres are back with a big guest! Jimmy & Jerry welcome Bobby Martin! Martin, who will focus on coaching the Husky forwards, comes to Northeastern after running BMB Training and Development LLC, a premier training program for basketball players at every level, since 2012.
 Prior to starting his own basketball training company, Martin had a successful 16-year professional career that began with the Quad City Thunder of the CBA where he won the CBA Championship in 1994 and was named to the CBA All-Defensive team. Martin then embarked on an 11-year career in the Liga ACB in Spain where he was named as one of the top rebounders in ACB history by Solobasket.com.
In 1993, Martin was a member Team USA’s gold medal winning team at the FIBA Americas Championship where he averaged 12.7 points per game to go along with 8.1 rebounds per game, five blocks and a 54.8 shooting percentage.
A three-year starter at Pittsburgh, Martin finished his time ranked 17th on the Pitt scoring list with 1,282 career points, 775 rebounds and 109 blocked shots. He was one of just eight Pitt players to score at least 20 points and grab at least 20 rebounds in a single game and tied the Pitt record for blocks in a game (7).
Out of high school, Martin was a 1987 McDonalds All-American, Street & Smith All-American and was a member of the Nation’s best recruiting class which included the likes of (Arizona basketball head coach) Sean Miller, Brian Shorter, Darelle Porter, and Jason Matthews.

The Midlife Crisis Podcast rolls on with the New Jersey All-Time leading basketball scorer Kristen Somogyi ! She is New Jersey’s All-Time leading scorer (for both women and men) with 3,899 high school career points. NJSIAA Hall of Fame Class of 2019 Inductee. She is a Kodak All-American, a USA today All -American, a Gatorade NJ Player of the year and a 3-time Parade All-American. She played Division 1 College basketball and as a member of the 1993 UVA ACC Championship Team and a member of the NCAA Elite 8. She also led Rutgers in assists, 3-point shooting and foul shooting.
After college, Kristen began to build the Jersey Cardinals organization and has been developing top talent ever since. Twelve years ago, she began with two teams and has grown the organization to 8-10 teams annually. She is the author of Knack Coaching Youth Basketball, the first full color, quick reference, visually organized guide to the game which is used by AAU coaches nationwide. The "MidLife Crisis" Podcast welcomes in Coach Art Cattano! Art is a Head Coach, at New Providence High School for the past 38 years. Coach Cattano has won two State Championships and several State Coaching Awards. In 2018-19 he was named the New Jersey State Coach of the Year by USA Today. He has been an Assistant Director of Excel Camp for the past 41 years! He has been an outstanding teacher, coach, and leader in the New Providence community since 1977. Enjoy this conversation!
